Sorry you have not heard from me in a couple of months. My business doubled last year, and my two Incredible Year-End Offers depleted the majority of my inventory. During all of January I was going "full-throttle," forging new knives for my inventory and filling custom orders as well.

I'm working on a lot of really exciting projects, some of which I'll be able to reveal to you over the next couple of months. These are very exciting times for Carter Cutlery. I'm so glad to be able to share the excitement with you.

NEW YouTube Entries Update

After more than 200,000 combined views of our YouTube video entries, our world-wide exposure has grown exponentially in the past six months. We now have over 330 subscribers to our YouTube account which entitles them to be notified whenever we come out with new video footage. In our effort to continue as leaders in the cutlery industry, we recently filmed and released two new entries: "World Record Kuro-uchi Speed Forging" and "Shaving with a Machete."

"World Record Kuro-uchi Speed Forging" was filmed with the intention of demonstrating how fast raw materials can be transformed into a functional knife when one has the unique distinction of completing close to 14,000 blades in his lifetime. However, I feel the need to emphasize that when I make knives for my discerning customers, a LOT more time than just 35 minutes goes into them to make them perfect.

"Shaving with a Machete" was my first-ever effort at shaving with a blade better suited for chopping limbs off trees. The shavings starts out a little awkward, but then I get the hang of it and I complete a very tidy shave. A little insiders tip for your viewing pleasure -- watch the nervous twitch in my left eyebrow as I shave the sensitive hairs under my nose. It'll make you laugh!

New Knife for 2009!!
The New MOAB, "Mother Of All Blades"
Quintessential Survival Knife

Harking back to the first few years of my bladesmithing apprenticeship, these knives are created the old-fashioned way by forge-welding a core of Hitachi high-carbon steel (1.2%) between two outer layers of Gokunantetsu. They are all about performance, and at 64 Rockwell hardness, they cut as good as my best kitchen knives do. These knives would be great all-around daily-use knives that you could even press into shaving duty if you had to.

Offered in three different configurations, the opportunity exists for you to try your hand at putting one of these fantastic blades together yourself.

  1. Complete as a knife with handle and leather sheath - $495
  2. Sold as a kit with wood for the handle and leather to make your own sheath - $395
  3. The polished and sharpened blade only, for your spring "Handy Man" project - $295
  4. I'll also offer a 25% discount on any second blade or kit purchased.

In response to the numerous requests for me to custom forge SFGZ (Stainless Fukugozai) blades and attach High Grade Ebony or Ho wood handles, I have decided to officially offer a new line of cutlery...
