Shamus Dotson

I first met Murray when I was 15 years old as a student in Vernonia. My friend was doing odd jobs for Murray as he was moving into his new house and shop having just arrived from Japan. One day my friend couldn’t go and asked me to fill in for him. At first I was working in Murray’s garden but then Murray asked me if I would be interested in helping out inside the knife shop. Within a few years I had experienced every step of the knife making/bladesmithing process.
When I was 19 years old I got to accompany Murray on his first ever guided tour to Japan where I met some of Japan’s greatest Bladesmiths, and visited museums showcasing the finest samurai swords. Back in the States, I eventually was asked by Murray to head up the new Muteki knife division; knives forged and completed by Murray’s Journeyman bladesmith’s.

Since becoming a Muteki bladesmith I have completed more than 2000 blades. I really enjoy creating sleek, curvy and modernistic renditions of Japanese patterns. My other interests include bodybuilding and superheroes.
